About us
The No Black Boxes Team
We’re changing the way people learn and use Technology.
WHAT WE DO
The No Black Boxes project is a London-based social enterprise devoted to removing the mysteries (“black boxes”) of Modern Technology.
We develop COURSES for everyone that completely explain your technology and will transform the way you work, study, and communicate.
We also design explainable TECHNOLOGY that anyone can understand, adapt and improve.
OUR MISSION
Everyone should understand the Technology they use.
We believe that EVERYONE should be able (and allowed) to understand how the technology they rely on actually works.
We believe the complexity of modern technology CAN BE EXPLAINED to anyone…with methods inspired by neuroscience. We know how.
We are committed to teach technology in the simplest, most effective, and enjoyable way to anyone, anywhere.
OUR TEAM
The Founders
The No Black Boxes project is led by a team of neuroscientists, educators, and experts in technology.
We have decades of experience teaching modern technology to young and senior neuroscientists who are building innovative new tools to study the most complex object in the world, the brain.
Now we want to share our methods and experience with everyone.

Our faculty of international experts in neuroscience and technology help us develop the curriculum and maintain state-of-the-art course materials.
The Course Faculty
Our International team of online and in person instructors make it possible to train a large number of people anywhere in the world.

OUR HISTORY
From new neuroscientists to everyone, anywhere.
2010 - 2021
The No Black Boxes team has been developing training material to teach Masters and PhD students for more than a decade at the most renowned and successful international schools such as Cold Spring Harbor, TENSS, CNP, SWC, MBL.
We soon realised that despite the rapid growth of new technologies, only a very limited number of students received adequate training. This lack of education on technical advance had a profound impact on scientific progress.
2021
We started developing a new curriculum that could be taught to many, many more students. The first NeuroKit course was taught online during the COVID-19 pandemic. Since then, we have developed three other NeuroKit courses and trained more than 500 students from 60 countries all over the world.
2023
Adam and Gaspard began adapting the curriculum of the Last Black Box to create engaging new material for secondary-school students. This became the “Build a Brain” course that is now taught in London schools.
2024
The No Black Boxes project started offering courses to anyone, anywhere - curious learners who want to know how the technology they use works. To achieve this, we received support from several partners such as the Francis Crick Institute, UCL, the Simons Foundation, and the Sainsbury-Wellcome Centre.
The No Black Boxes project was made possible due to the core funding and visionary support of the CT Foundation.
OUR IMPACT
We have already empowered many people like you to take control of their technology, from secondary school students to undergraduates, Masters, PhDs and senior scientists.
